DARe — Modelling travel behaviours during weather-related disruptions in West Yorkshire

Exploring how extreme weather changes route, mode and departure-time choices across a regional transport network.

Travel in rainy conditions

Experience overview

The DARe research work investigated travel behaviour during weather-related disruption in West Yorkshire. The assignment brought together transport analysis, data-driven methods and AI/software expertise to improve understanding of travellers’ responses to disruption and support more resilient transport planning.

Scope

  • Travel behaviour under severe-weather conditions
  • Transport and meteorological data analysis
  • Research support for resilient infrastructure planning

Technical focus

  • Mode, route and travel-time choices
  • Predictive and data-driven methods
  • Transport-system resilience
